Chrome Hearts Café

The Chrome Hearts Café took place from October 4th to the 13th, 2003. The original intention was to create an exhibition where the visitor could not only see, but touch and use as well. Since it was to take place during Tokyo Designers Block - and enormous event that involves a great deal of walking - it seemed logical to make a space that one could relax in. This line of thinking led to the idea of a café. The Chrome Hearts Café would be a place where people could congregate, refresh, wind up, and wind down - all the while actively participating in an exhibition. The glasses that people drank from, the furniture that people sat on, and every element of the café was a never before seen working prototype.

Among the original designs developed for the Chrome Hearts Café were the Anamorphic Series, Grooveware, Stooval Seating, and the Brick Sofa. Several of these have since become products.
